Employment Advice and Transferable Skills Workshop

The second in our series of three workshops supporting Young Adult Carers to overcome some of the key barriers they may face and make informed decisions about their next steps after school or college.

This practical workshop will explore:

  • Choosing the right job – understanding different types of employment, including part-time and full-time roles, fixed-term and zero-hours contracts.
  • Finding opportunities – where to get careers advice and look for jobs.
  • Building experience – exploring volunteering, apprenticeships, internships and other ways to gain valuable work experience.
  • Applying for jobs – tips for CVs, applications and interviews.
  • Work and caring – understanding your rights as a working carer.
  • Recognising your strengths – identifying transferable skills and building confidence and resilience.

There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and think about what might work best for you.

Snacks and drinks will be provided.
